Carmen – 'Les tringles des sistres tintaient'

Extracts | Bizet

Opera meets the city and the city meets opera. In the Komische Oper Berlin’s pop-up operas, select scenes from the company’s repertoire are performed in urban locations around the German capital, giving its inhabitants the chance to experience this memorable music up close. So far, more than 350,000 people have been reached through the scheme.

In this video filmed at the Südblock bar in Kreuzberg, Karolina Gumos sings Carmen’s Chanson Bohème ‘Les tringles des sistres tintaient’ from Bizet’s opéra comique Carmen. She’s joined by Talya Lieberman as Frasquita, Maria Fiselier as Mercédès and Ana Menjibar as Manuela, and accompanied by Rajko Schlee and Zamna Urista-Rojas on the guitar, Arnulf Ballhorn on the contrabass and Juri Tarasenok on the bajan accordion.
