The Nationaltheater Mannheim (NTM) is one of Germany's largest and oldest municipal repertory theatres, with a tradition reaching back to Mozart and Schiller. Numerous world and German premieres across the four main areas of opera, theatre, dance and youth theatre, along with the community theatre project ‘Mannheimer Stadtensemble’, testify to the innovative and contemporary continuation of this great tradition. In alternating years, the NTM presents the festivals “Internationale Schillertage” (theatre) and “Mannheimer Sommer” (opera). Outstanding artistic achievements and around 1000 performances for around 350,000 visitors each year make the NTM a cultural beacon in the region and one of the most important theatres in Germany.

The current theatre at Goetheplatz, designed by the architect Gerhard Weber, was completed in 1957 and is recognised today as a cultural heritage site. After over 60 years in operation, the building is about to undergo major refurbishments. Until then, performances will continue to take place in the theatre at Goetheplatz until July 2022. Don’t miss your chance to visit the NTM in this last season before the general refurbishment!
