Waltzing and Singing

Dietrich Henschel and Darren Ross work with young artists on the outskirts of Brussels

Becoming an artist

Becoming an opera singer isn’t only about learning to sing. It’s also about embodying characters on stage.

German baritone Dietrich Henschel and British choreographer Darren Ross spent a week working with young artists at the Queen Elisabeth Music Chapel on the outskirts of Brussels.

They approach fin de siècle music, spoken language and movement, with waltzing and diction classes, as a workshop of the Young Opera Makers programme of the European network of opera academies.
