Opera Crown - Tbilisi International Voice Competition, will have its first edition in May 2018. It will take place in Georgian capital Tbilisi every two years, each time offering the contestants from all over the world the best and most welcoming atmosphere to perform at their very best.
The competition is open to opera singers at the start of their professional career and aims at discovering and facilitating the promotion of young talented singers by giving them the opportunity to be heard by a panel of top opera professionals – artistic and casting directors from world's best opera houses. They include Christina Scheppelmann from Teatre de Liceu (Barcelona), Peter Mario Katona from Royal Opera House (London), Jonathan Friend from Metropolitan Opera (New York) and the host Badri Maisuradze, the Georgian tenor and director of the Tbilisi Opera and Ballet State Theatre.
After the Preliminary Audition involving video recordings, 50 singers will be invited to compete in Tbilisi.
The 1st competition will take place at the Tbilisi Opera House from 30 April to 5 May 2018. The last round and the final are streamed live on OperaVision on 5 May 2018 at 16:00 CET.
