Founded in 2012 and known as opera’s Oscars, the International Opera Awards are the annual celebration of excellence in the international opera scene. The awards aim to recognise and reward success, create scholarships for emerging talent and raise the profile of opera. This year's jury, composed of opera professionals, is chaired by John Allison, editor of Opera with Opera News.

2024 Shortlist
The 2024 shortlist of organisations and artists in the running for an Award this year include several which are close to OperaVision. Here are those you might have seen on our platform.
In the running in the Best Festival category are Garsington Opera, a long-standing partner of OperaVision, and Smetana Opera Cycle Ostrava, two of whose operas were streamed on our platform for the first time this summer.
Opera for Peace, whose masterclasses regularly showcase emerging talent from the sector, is nominated for the Equal Opportunities and Development prize.
In the Sustainability category, the shortlist includes the INSPIRE project, of which Opera Europa - the professional organisation behind OperaVision - is a partner, the Green Season of our regular contributor Opera North, which includes their production Masque of Might, and our partner Finnish National Opera.
New productions include Laurent Pelly's excellent production of Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg at the Teatro Real Madrid, available on OperaVision.
Finally, we are pleased to find among the World Premieres two operas recently streamed on OperaVision: Peter Eötvös' Valuska at Hungarian State Opera and Cassandra by Bernard Foccroulle at La Monnaie / De Munt. These two performances are no longer available on demand, but you can watch some extracts below.
