Dutch National Opera & Ballet is the largest theatre production house in the Netherlands, renowned for its world-class performances of opera and ballet. Located in the heart of Amsterdam, the theatre combines a purpose-designed building, inaugurated in 1986, with a rich artistic history. Originally housing two distinct companies – De Nederlandse Opera (which later evolved into Dutch National Opera) and Dutch National Ballet – they united with the Muziektheater (The Amsterdam Music Theatre) in 2014, forming one cohesive artistic family.
In line with its mission to inspire and innovate, Dutch National Opera & Ballet work with both celebrated artists and emerging talents to present timeless masterpieces alongside innovative creations, ensuring opera and ballet remain vibrant and relevant for contemporary audiences.
