Daegu Opera House is the only producing opera house in South Korea. Since its establishment in 2003, it has been dedicated to advancing the art of opera and serving as a cultural landmark of Daegu, a UNESCO Creative City of Music.
With a strong commitment to artistic excellence, Daegu Opera House has presented a wide range of high-quality productions and expanded its international presence through collaborations with opera institutions and artists from Italy, Romania, Bulgaria, China, Estonia and Germany.
Beyond opera production, Daegu Opera House has strengthened its identity through a wide range of initiatives, including civic arts education programmes and opera studio, which focuses on nurturing emerging singers.
Every October, Daegu Opera House hosts the Daegu International Opera Festival - one of the most prestigious opera festivals in Asia - providing a vital platform for artistic collaboration. As part of the festival, the Global Opera Market is held with the aim of becoming a global hub for opera distribution and international exchange.
Today, Daegu Opera House stands as a dynamic cultural hub where tradition and innovation converge, celebrating the creativity, artistry, and enduring legacy of Korean opera on the global stage.
