Growing up with opera

Montpellier's new production of Cavalleria Rusticana / Pagliacci is an opportunity to discover the very young artists of Opéra Junior. Affiliated with the Opéra Orchestre, Opéra Junior introduces and trains 200 young people aged 4 to 29 each season in the performing arts. In 2025, they won the Liliane Bettencourt Prize for Choral Singing, which, since 1989, has been celebrating the work of choirs and music schools that have made special contributions to French choral singing.

In this scene senior politicians discover that a former civil servant has leaked damaging evidence that could destroy a leadership campaign and expose serious misconduct. As panic sets in, Roger Penistone (Ross Cumming), Sandy Hogg (Jamie MacDougall) and Cherry Penistone (Chloe Harris) rely on the ruthless lawyer Sylvia Lawless (Kira Kaplan) and her associate Hugo Cheeseman (Edward Jowle) to silence the whistleblower through legal intimidation, lawsuits and money in order to protect their power and public image.
