In this scene from Donizetti’s Don Pasquale, Don Pasquale and Malatesta plot together, each believing he is outsmarting the other. They are sung by Ferdinand Muradyan (Don Pasquale) and Charles Buttigieg (Dottor Malatesta) in the Fondazione Mascarade Opera performance: Le Grand Hôtel de l'Opéra.

As the relatives learn that Buoso has left his fortune to the monastery, Simone (Giacomo Prestia), La Ciesca (Laura Fleur), Marco (Bryan Sala), Betto (Manuel Fuentes), Zita (Elena Zilio), Nella (Holly Brown), Rinuccio (Iván Ayón Rivas) and Gherardo (Mikeldi Atxalandabaso) imagine the monks taking Buoso’s money and enjoying rich food while the family get nothing. They see the friars getting fat and laughing at them, showing how upset they are about losing the inheritance.

As the family prepares to carry out Gianni Schicchi’s plan to secure the inheritance, Nella (Holly Brown), La Ciesca (Laura Fleur) and Zita (Elena Zilio) help him get ready for his disguise. They praise his transformation as he changes his clothes, alters his voice and adopts Buoso’s frail manner before sending him to bed to complete the deception.

Antonio (bass Jun-mo Park) hands over a letter to the Count (baritone Mikhail Motaylenko), who asks Figaro (bass Kihyun Lee) if he recognises it. Figaro denies knowing anything about the letter, but Susanna (soprano Silvia Spessot) and the Countess (soprano Alessia Camarin) know the truth.

The 'Folle Journée' (Mad Day) ends in celebration with a finale sung by all the characters.
